The University of Southern Philippines is a university in Cebu City with two campuses: Lahug and Mabini. edit HistoryThe University of Southern Philippines was founded as Southern Institute on May 14, 1927. Classes were started for secondary education in a rented building on Colon Street. In 1933, the school moved to Mabini Street. In 1938, Southern Institute changed its name to Southern College. In 1940, the College of Education was opened. Closed during World War II, the school moved to Lahug after the war in 1945. The name was changed yet again in 1949 to the University of Southern Philippines which was turned into a non-stock, non-profit foundation in 1959.
