Fuente Osmeña is Spanish for "Osmeña Fountain". Indeed, it is a fountain located in a roundabout (or rotunda) in the center of Cebu. It is named for President Sergio Osmeña. The fountain sits at the intersection of Osmeña Boulevard with B. Rodriguez Street to the south and General Maxilom Avenue (Mango Avenue) on the north. Many of the city's homeless live near Fuente Osmeña and it is common to see ambulant vendors and groups of children begging. The fountain has been the venue for activities related to Sinulog, the Christmas season and even Valentine's Day. It was also the site for anti-Marcos demonstrations in the 1980's.
edit DisputeThere is an ongoing dispute over the ownership of the Fountain between the Cebu City Government and the Cebu Provincial Government. [1] edit Bakeries
