edit History

Lahug was named because members of insurrections against the Spanish would seek refuge in the dense vegetation of the area. While the Spanish had difficulties navigating the jungle, the natives could easily weave in and out of the area or Lahug-Lahug in Cebuano.

Before World War II, the elite residents of Cebu City chose Lahug as their place of residence. In the 1950's the Beverly Hills development was establishment by a businessman, who patterned the design on San Francisco's hillside communities.

Until 1967, Cebu's airport was the Lahug Airport. In 1967, the airport was transferred to Mactan Island to allow more space for landing strips and to avoid the danger of plane crashes within the city.
